Two new dresses will be joining Atèlette's collection, the Persephone Dress and the Blythe Dress, and I wanted to take a little time to share more about each of these beauties.

The Persephone Dress was inspired by silhouettes from one of my favorite English heritage brands, Laura Ashley. The vintage 80s Laura Ashley dresses were a little too fussy, in my opinion, so I simplified the details so the Persephone still feels really feminine with its low u-scoop neckline and light v-shape waist, but didn't add any additional ornamentation like ruffles or bows or ties.

The print of the Persephone is our custom 19th century reproduction dot print from an antique quilt block. It's a deep inky navy blue and the polka dots are a butter yellow.

The Blythe Dress is my loose interpretation of the dresses Marie Antoinette and her friends wear while staying in The Hameau de la Reine in Sofia Coppola's 2006 movie "Marie Antoinette." Initially I was going to make this dress in a print because I didn't want it to be too precious, but after we came across this deadstock cotton gauze (for a different design) I had one version made of the Blythe in the cotton gauze and it was love at first sight.

Both of these dress silhouettes feel like they will become staples to Atèlette as they both feel so feminine but without being overdone and having a lot of fuss. Most likely different versions of these two will be made for upcoming seasons.
