July Mood Board
As of late, I haven't found much inspiration to design or create anything else for F/W. I am realizing more and more that perhaps I have bitten more than I can chew since beginning Atèlette. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, I think I was so excited that I have the opportunity to make anything my little heart desires, that I got overly ambitious instead of focusing into a niche and doing a few things really, really well.
I love when clothing brands are known for something and known to do those few things really well. At the moment I think I've figured out what my small avenues will be and will stay within those realms for now until my skill and knowledge in design and technical design improve before I tackle on other categories for Atèlette.
For now, my focus is going to play within the world of the things I have loved and will always love. Delicate details, whispery cottons, softly draped silhouettes, sleepwear that can be worn for daywear, gingham, ditsy florals, and perhaps dabble in some denim here and there.
Earlier this week, I sent off a couple new tech packs for two pieces inspired by foundation garments and sleepwear (one from early 20th century, one from the 1970s) and I am making them in fabrics that don't feel light sleepwear or foundational pieces, but you COULD sleep in them.
I have been doing things with a lot more intention and as if my brand wasn't slow fashion enough, it's even slower now it seems because I am sitting with my designs even longer and making sure I really love it before moving forward with it.
