Antique Long Sleeve Pintucks Nightgown
A beautifully understated antique nightgown, likely sewn by hand or on a home sewing machine. Crafted from crisp white cotton that has softened with time, the front yoke is detailed with rows of finely stitched pintucks that upon closer inspection, reveal the charming irregularities of hand-guided sewing. The neckline is framed with embroidered eyelet insertion and finished with a softly gathered eyelet ruffle collar, while the long sleeves are gathered into narrow cuffs and trimmed with matching eyelet embroidered flounces. Gentle gathers released beneath the yoke create a graceful, flowing silhouette designed for comfort and ease of movement, while a center-front button placket completes this lovely example of everyday Edwardian needlework.
