Autumn Mood Board
There is so much of my past and the things I love infused and reflected in this Autumn mood board. My love for Tasha Tudor, for David Hamilton and Sarah Moon's grainy dreamy photography, my time living in Hungary in my 20s, my admiration for Bianca Jagger and the effortless way she blended romance, femininity, and sex appeal, my love for prints and motifs inspired by Little Women and mid 19th century silhouettes.
Atèlette is only in her second year (our official site launched in 2023) and I've only been designing as a self-taught designer for a couple of years at this point and I am still learning so much and I have yet so much more to learn. Most importantly, I am learning to distill who and what Atèlette is and what she isn't. I am really looking forward to Atèlette being known for something. What that something is, I'm not sure yet. I'm not going to force it; I want it to be born naturally from her seasons.
I do want Atèlette to be known as feminine and romantic, though I'm aware within those two definitions there are a myriad versions of femininity and romance. My version is probably a cross between some of the images of the women depicted here:
Romantic and idealistic like Tasha Tudor
Feminine and beguiling like Bianca Jagger
A sweet ingenue like a Hamilton or Moon portrait
It will all come together, day by day, bit by bit, piece by piece. I look forward to the day when I can look back and beam with pride at my body of work and see myself, my past, present, and all the things I aspire for this world reflected back in cloth and thread.
