Self Study: The Theodosia & Leith
“Earlier in my career I realized that whatever I did turned out more honest and purer and fresher if I did it to please me… But my real personal space is a place of consciousness that cannot be taken from, nor added to. It truly is Heaven on Earth.” — Victoria MacKenzie-Childs

I recently thrifted “A Room of Her Own” by Chris Casson Madden (c. 1997), an interior design book of sorts about women from different paths of live and the rooms and spaces they have created for themselves in their homes where they go to be replenished, relax, meditate, or create. Some of the women are famous (like Ali Macgraw and Oprah Winfrey), but most are only known in their fields of expertise (like Alta Tingle who owned a garden shop in Berkeley) but the quote above really resonated with me.

The quote struck me because the idea of creating from a place that is deeply personal and protected, feels so aligned with why Atèlette exists. I design slowly and intentionally. Not to chase trends or constant output, but to honor a way of making that feels honest, considered, and brings me joy to put out into the world.
The Theodosia Dress and Leith Top were created in this spirit. Thoughtfully produced, carefully refined, and meant to be worn often — pieces designed to support femininity, ease, and a sense of grounded presence in everyday life.
Pre-orders for both pieces will open January 20.
I wanted to share these thoughts quietly this evening as an invitation for reflection rather than an announcement. A gentle reminder of the values that guide me and in turn guide Atèlette.
